CLAN STRATHUMMEL

This page features some of the puppies we have bred, and includes both news and pictures. For us to be able to maintain this feature we are dependent on those of you who have Strathummel puppies to send us news of their progress and achievements. We look forward to hearing from you.

       STRATHUMMEL ROSS ( TEAL)

Owned by the Phair family, Teal is now six months old and weighs 20.45Kg. He stands 45cm to his shoulder. He has been awarded his Kennel Club Good Citizen Foundation Certificate and Rosette and is starting to walk on a loose lead. He will also sit and stay for over a minute.

Hopefully next year, along with handler Matt, Teal will be doing some  gundog courses run by Kev Davidson at Edencroft Kennels

I want to hunt!        I don't want to leave the beach even if i am a good citizen!

More news on Teal, April 2008, John has informed us  that within five weeks Teal has gained his Bronze, Silver and Gold Kennel Club Good Citizen awards with handler Mathew. Well done Teal and Mathew. Does this mean Crufts next year?

STRATHUMMEL ROSE ( TILLY)

Owner Kate Wardman writes, 'We have really enjoyed being out with Tilly on long walks and not having to clock-watch. I have just started taking her out on bike rides to the park,  she gets so excited and runs always in front as if to say,  'Come on mum, faster'. At the end of October we joined a dog club in East Leak - it's about half an  hour away but it's nice and relaxed and not too many mad dog people!

She is a lovely dog, we should have called her Shadow and not Tilly; everywhere I go she must 'goon walk' (for the uninitiated, this means shadowing) .  She is really good with other dogs (still spends most of her time on her back when meeting them) but doesn't run away. I have started to throw a stick into the thick undergrowth and she is picking up the scent well and returning it. Tilly still loves to help lock up at night, get her dog grooming bag, bring me her bowl after her food and insists on helping with bringing in the weekly shopping from the car into the kitchen. There was no problem on firework night, we had a week to prepare with all the daft kids around so we would sit in the garden and played games.'

Note from Strathummel: It is not a good idea to let dogs retrieve sticks, better to use a ball or a dummy. Wood can splinter and cause obstructions in the throat, or worse.

STRATHUMMEL DAHLIA (KIARA)

Known at one time as 'One Spot'; Kiara was purchased by one of our vets in Derby, Kiara's owner says that this photo reflects her personality as Kiara 'is very happy dog enjoying a sunny day in Peak District. Kiara is doing fine, as you can see she is not One Spot anymore. She is growing healthy and happy and we are very pleased with her.'
